Shangri-la Mustangs

Lakota, means Friend. At first we were afraid that we named her wrong. Of our Mustangs she was the only one with aggressive tendencies. After we were able to touch her, we felt long scars on her neck. We believe that she may have been attacked by a mountain lion, and thus the reason for her defensive behavior. In time we learned the friend in Lakota. She waits for us in the evening at the fences for our return home, and many times in the evening she looks in the back window to see us. She even leaves the protection of the herd to walk us home.

Lakota needs special training. She needs someone who can spend time with her daily and will understand her cautious behavior and needs. Lakota, is 2 1/2 and looks more like an Appoloosa the older she gets.

Lakota has a beautiful blazed face with golden red mane. Lakota also has a beautiful gait and loves to play.
